Who Watches the Watchers (and their Bases)

With my ordered Watchers arrival impending, and me not wanting to base EVERYTHING with the same bases (my Outlaws are on Town Base Inserts, my Lawmen on Desert Base Inserts - at the Moment, the plan is for the Enlightened to also be on Desert Base Inserts but that might change).

What to Do? I thought to myself, as the only Base Inserts are from Outlaw themselves (as the base sizes are different to other games) - I know, I'll create some of my own just for the watchers.

First off, I use my circle cutter to make discs of plasti-card that fitted inside the tops of the WWX Bases - one large, one medium, and six small (as there are generally more small based models, I felt variety was important here).

Next I used instant mold to take pressings of parts (ONLY parts - more would be naughty) of the official WWX Scatter Terrain, to at least attempt to make the bases look appropriate to the game setting - I AVOIDED skulls, and went for the more techy elements. Because I wanted it to look like the Watchers were trampling Human civilization underfoot.

Unfortunately one of the components didn't turn out, the casting came out twisted and deformed - not a big loss, as I had enough with the ones that came out.

Next I trimmed them and glued them to the discs - good old Gorilla Glue was used, its a thicker Superglue so I had a little time to move things around if I wasn't happy with the initial placement (I was, but that's not the point - it's nice to have lee-way).

Once the glue had cured, I used simple wall filler to bulk up the base inserts around the WWX debris - and then, finished off using Citadel Paints Agrellan Earth, and Astrogranite to add eventual texture when the inserts were dry.

They're still kinda soft and wet at the moment, but after being left to dry overnight - we SHOULD see something cool by tomorrow . . . . . .
